Meet the Management Team
Managing Director
B.Sc. (Jt Hons), FRICS, FCInstCES
Nick is a Chartered Land Surveyor who has held a management position at Malcolm Hughes for over two decades. In this time, he has gained a wealth of experience managing over 15,000 different survey projects, ranging from small, measured surveys to our three-year involvement in providing engineering surveyors to the Mersey Gateway bridge.
Nick’s first employment was as a land surveyor and he then spent a successful 12 years in technical sales of survey equipment, working for both ZEISS and Geotronics before joining Malcolm Hughes.
Playing an active role within the profession, Nick is currently President of The Survey Association (TSA) and represents TSA on the geospatial apprenticeship Employers’ Steering Group. Nick also acts as an assessor and APC mentor for RICS and as an examiner for the CICES, and is a senior accreditor of University surveying courses for CICES.
Non-Exec Director
MRICS, MAPM
Phil is a Chartered Land Surveyor and a Member of the Association for Project Management.
He started working as a Land Surveyor in local and central government, including many nights surveying the London Underground stations and tunnels. He then moved client-side, procuring surveys before becoming a Director at Plowman Craven, where he was responsible for the development and growth of the business. Phil has also held the position of Director at Frankham Consultancy Group and Managing Director at Leica Geosystems UK and Benelux.
As a Board member Phil shall bring independent judgement at Board meetings on issues such as strategy, performance and standards of conduct.

B.Sc. (Hons), MRICS
Stuart is a Chartered Land Surveyor and joined Malcolm Hughes in 2013.
Initially managing the CAD production team including 3D modelling, Stuart has been instrumental in the adoption of BIM across the business and the adoption of UAV (drone) services ensuring we are fully CAA Approved. Stuart has over 17 years’ experience in the geospatial profession and is an RICS registered Expert Witness for boundary dispute resolution.
As an Associate Director, Stuart is jointly responsible for our continued growth and development, focusing on technical development and client engagement as well as providing support as a mentor for aspiring RICS APC candidates.

Vincent joined Loy Surveys as a graduate land surveyor in 2007, progressing to appointment as survey manager in 2014. In his position overseeing survey operations in Scotland, he has contributed to the continued success and growth of Malcolm Hughes and helped facilitate change following the amalgamation and rebranding in 2018. He has gained a wealth of experience initially surveying and then managing numerous high-profile clients and surveys in Scotland.
As an Associate Director, Vincent is jointly responsible for our continued growth and development of the business UK wide and is focused on client liaison, commercial management, and operations.
Senior Survey Manager – North
B.Sc. (Hons)
Mathew has over 21 years’ experience as a land and hydrographic surveyor in the UK and onboard survey vessels worldwide. He has worked on major construction projects including the installation of offshore infrastructure, and on shore-based civil engineering projects. Mathew joined Loy Surveys in 2008, and has been with Malcolm Hughes since 2011, first as Senior Surveyor before becoming Survey Manager in 2013.
Mathew is responsible for the management of the Scotland office, and contributes to business growth and development as part of the senior management team.
Business Development Manager
Ravi joined Malcolm Hughes as Business Development Manager in early 2021 and brings a wealth of sales experience to the company. His role involves working with the management team and to focus on introducing new clients, managing existing client relationships as well as marketing & social media. He has experience in a variety of sectors and brings a fresh approach to marketing and development of the future of the business.
SHEQ Manager
Darren has over 21 years experience within the surveying industry and joined Malcolm Hughes as our SHEQ Manager in 2018. He has an excellent understanding in all aspects of health and safety, risk assessments and manual creation. With this knowledge Darren’s main role is maintaining and auditing EMS, QMS & OHSAS, technical support, H&S audits and product improvement. Supporting the management team in achieving departmental targets and ensuring standard procedures are adhered to.
